The "VISITING" series takes us to the many diverse neighborhoods of Southern California, and introduces us to the people who live there. "VISITING" has captured the spirit of the Southland with episodes ranging from a look at how menudo is made to the celebration surrounding the rededication of Angeles Flight. LA Times critic Howard Rosenberg calls Huell's style, "Intimate,magnificently unslick, utterly charming, and absolutely irresistible." Viewers agree, and VISITING With HUELL HOWSER continues to be one of the most popular programs on KCET - PBS Los Angeles. "VISITING" has been on the air for over 17 years, and is generously funded by a grant provided by the Ralph M. Parsons Foundation and produced by KCET. Year Begun:
1993 Visiting...With Huell Howser #1901 - VINCENT PRICE ART MUSEUMHuell tours the Vincent Price Art Museum, which opened in May 2011 at East Los Angeles College in Monterey Park. The museum contains 9,000 items, many of which were donated by the late actor. Victoria Price leads the tour of her father's vast collection of fine art and shows why this gallery is one of Los Angeles's best kept secrets. We also look back at Huell's original 1989 'Videolog' interview with Vincent Price himself.
Visiting...With Huell Howser #1902 - PANORAMA UPDATEHuell starts this update with clips from the original episode, then Huell heads to the new home of the Panorama and meets up with Sara to see what has changed and what you can expect if you choose to visit.
Visiting...With Huell Howser #1903 - HOT PEPPERSHuell's hot adventure begins at downtown Los Angeles's Grand Central Market where we discover some of the spiciest peppers and chili sauces around. But you won't find anything hotter than Moe Newaz's backyard variety of "Ghost Peppers" and "Devil's Tongue" peppers in Santa Clarita. We also learn about the Scoville Heat Scale (developed in 1912 by Chemist Wilbur Scoville) which has become the standard for measuring spicy foods.
Visiting...With Huell Howser #1904 - LINDBERGH BEACONHuell traces the history of the 1928 Lindbergh Beacon, which was discovered at a city warehouse in the 1990s, restored to its original glory, and now shines over downtown Los Angeles from the top of City Hall. We also revisit Huell's original segment on the Beacon, when Project Restore rededicated the Beacon in the LAX terminal after its 50-year absence. |
